Meanwhile Space is a term used to describe the temporary use of a property until it can be brought back to its full potential on a permanent basis.  Phase two of the scheme will see a number of vacant units in the Saltmarket, High Street, Duke Street and St Margarets Place areas being offered to eligible organisations for an initial £1 rent for the first year of occupation. As the vacant units are at different phases of renovation, new tenants will move in on a staggered basis, as and when properties become ready for use. Phase one of the scheme in 2019 was effective in securing tenants for 11 units in the Saltmarket and High Street areas, with all units extending their lease beyond the initial 12-month period.

The initiative, which is being managed by City Property Glasgow (Investments) LLP (CPGI) in partnership with Glasgow City Council will be open to start-up businesses, social enterprises, creative organisations, community groups and other comolimentary SMEs who can help deliver local regeneration.
